Rose Senior Living Presents ‘Tips for Planning Ahead’

Planning ahead is more complicated than ever for those facing a retirement life. Rose Senior Living-Avon hosted a Panel Presentation last Tuesday that addressed some of the concerns that face elder living.

Hosted by David Frank, CRC, of First Federal Lakewood, the panel of experts helped a full house of audience members better understand a number of relevant issues.

Included in the panel were:

  • Julie Graf Skinner, Busch Funeral & Crematory, who shared essential tips on funeral planning,
  • Kathie Mahar, Crossroads Hospice, who explained facts on palliative and hospice care,
  • Joseph Motta, Co. LPA, an expert in estate planning and elder law,
  • Lorrene Ostrander, First Choice HHC, who shared details on home health skilled nursing,
  • Marny Havas, Home Instead, who talked about private duty home care.

Trick or Trunk Halloween Event - Avon OH

Rose Senior Living - Avon celebrated its first annual Trick or Trunk Halloween event on October 20, 2017.  T

ogether with local businesses, families from the surrounding neighborhood, residents and RSL- Avon associate members and their children nearly 150 people came together to fellowship, play games, eat good food and wear Halloween costumes. 

Parents and some residents passed out candy from the trunks of their parked cars  to kids that passed by.  It was a beautiful night and the weather was perfect.  Everyone had fun!

Memory Care Café Luncheon

Exercise is essential to living well. Regular exercise can help seniors build the strength, balance, and flexibility needed to perform the activities of daily life.

On August 17, join us at Rose Senior Living for a presentation from Juan Gamero on the benefits of exercise for energizing and elevating daily living. He’ll demonstrate several exercises he uses with senior and memory care clients, and will be  available after the presentation to answer questions about exercise and rehab at Rose Senior Living.

2017 MCAL “Mentor of the Year” awarded to Rose Senior Living Director

Angel Burt, Clinical Director at Rose Senior Living – Clinton Township, and now acting Executive Director, was nominated and has won the MCAL “Mentor of the Year” award!  Angel will receive the award at the 2017 HCAM|MCAL Annual Convention & Expo awards luncheon. The luncheon is being held Tuesday the 19th at 12:30 pm in Grand Rapids.  The convention & expo runs from the 17 to the 20th at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel & DeVos Place.

Summer Theater Camp Comes to The Rose Senior Living

Theater Campers audition a routine at Rose Senior Living.

Theater Camp is a highlight of summer for many students interested in music, acting, dance and more.

TrueNorth Cultural Arts has teamed this summer with Rose Senior Living in Avon to host three separate camps for students in grades 1-5, 6-12, and Middle-High School age.

“We love it here at The Rose,” said TrueNorth Director Richard Fortney. “They have been very open to the arts and kids working with senior adults and the power the arts have in working within a community.”
