Planning and Preparedness for Coronavirus Covid-19

Rose Senior Living has been singularly focused on preparedness planning for coronavirus/COVID-19. We know that this disease dramatically impacts older adults—the people we serve. The risk increases at age 60, with the highest incidence of risk at age 80 and above.

As the number of COVID-19 cases continue to grow in our surrounding communities and across the nation, we anticipate that we will be managing cases in our sites that offer care services and for other community members that we serve.

We want you to know that we have a plan in place and we’re ready. We have had an interdisciplinary COVID-19 Operations Team working full time to prepare us to manage this virus.

We continue to actively follow infection control protocols and other guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and our local and state health agencies, with the goal of reducing the risk of occurrence and transmission. This is a matter of public health.

At the same time, we continue to find ways to bring joy to those we serve. We’re focused on connecting people with their family and friends, staying engaged and connected.

Current Actions:

  •  Restricted Visitor Protocol: A no visitor protocol, with limited exception for compassionate care
  • Resident Screening: Actively and routinely screening residents, following protocol
  • Team Member Screening: Checking temperatures on arrival and at the end of shifts
  • Dining in-room and no group activities
  • No activities involving outside visitors or excursions
  • We’re regularly communicating with those we serve and our team members
  • We continue to focus on infection control and prevention, following all CDC guidelines

New Actions: Particioned Care Units (PCUs)

We are proactively preparing to create Partitioned Care Units, should they be needed, to allow us to provide care for individuals with COVID-19 or other contagious respiratory illnesses in  designated areas of our campuses. This plan will allow us to best serve these individuals as well as our other residents.

New Actions: Particioned Care Units (PCUs)

If you’re an approved resident representative, call our resource line between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CDT Monday through Friday with health-related questions about your loved one.

Additional Information?

We understand that you want to see your loved one and that this is a difficult time. But to protect those we serve from COVID-19, we’ve instituted a firm no-visitors policy that’s in accordance with CMS guidelines. We encourage family members and friends to stay in touch by video chat, phone, texts or emails. (Please contact your site if your loved one is at end-of-life.)
No visitors at any time will be allowed to enter if they have any respiratory symptoms, have traveled within the last 14 days to areas where COVID-19 is prevalent, or have had possible exposure to COVID-19. These measures are to help keep those we serve safe!

All residents in our senior living buildings with care services are receiving meals in their rooms. This is in accordance with CMS guidelines. Those living in our independent living buildings will be served over staggered meal times, limiting groups to 10 and maintaining physical distancing.

A. We’re actively monitoring those we serve and our team members, and we anticipate that we will manage occurrences of this virus because it is so prevalent in our greater communities. We have a plan and we are prepared. Should it be needed, we will create Partitioned Care Units, allowing us to care for individuals with COVID-19 or other contagious respiratory illnesses in designated areas of our campuses.

At this time we have appropriate supplies to care for those we serve. We also have strategies in place should this become an issue of concern. We have the experience of knowing how to designate a dedicated group of caregivers to care for those who are ill, ensuring both adequate protective wear and consistency of care for the comfort of those we’re serving.

Your loved ones are the reason we are here. We’re dedicated to caring for them to the very best of our abilities. We’re actively following and implementing the latest CDC guidelines and also implementing the knowledge we’ve gained from managing other infectious illnesses. We continue to learn more about this virus every day. We will follow all recommended protocols for infection prevention and control.
